3 Ways Hypnosis, Manifestation, & LOA interact

If you’ve spent any amount of time on social media in the past 10 years, you’ve likely heard the term “Manifest.” If you’re familiar with it, this term likely elicits an immediate mental or emotional response within you. Your sentiment may be that you love manifestation, that you believe it’s hokum or that it’s downright evil. Whatever your take may be, it is a wildly popular practice today and, believe it or not, hypnosis has a huge role to play!

For whichever reasons someone pursues clinical hypnotherapy, they are looking to change a believe or behavior. They may be looking to “attract” something, or someone, new into their life. It is our beliefs that hold us in the cage of our current circumstances. Our minds have been conditioned to believe that what we are living out is our lot in life and that no change can occur. Hypnosis has everything to do with mental conditioning. Even the evidenced based practice of cognitive behavioral therapy involves locating the irrational thoughts that are influencing the unwanted behavior so the cognition can be changed to elicit a new preferred outcome. Hypnosis is the exact unfolding of this formular; simply graced with the approach of the unconscious.

Manifestation may feel like a fad and yet is a term that began being utilized in the late 19th century & early 20th century in new thought literature speaking of the ability to bring about a significant change within one's life via thoughts, words & actions. It’s often forgotten, and sometimes neglected in sharing, that hypnosis and the aforementioned terms were the early work in psychology and mental health. The influence of hypnosis in the helps profession field is huge, but how do hypnosis, manifestation and the Law of Attraction (LOA) interact?

1)      Manifestation is often a direct outcome of hypnotic approach

When someone is hypnotized or uses self-hypnosis, they are in the process of shifting their subconscious beliefs and welcoming the new beliefs as truth to elicit changed behavior. Due to this being done on an unconscious level, it can seem almost effortless and, in turn, feel and appear like magic. Manifesting, creating, living out a new outcome is part of the result.

2)      Law of Attraction is hypnotic in nature

You are in the process of attracting what you want or desire in a systematic approach but using hypnosis as a numbing agent and helpful distracting buffer to some of the former thoughts, beliefs and “resistance” that gets in the way of attaining your goals.

3)      Hypnosis is a way to manifest and attract

The reprogramming of your mind is like re-writing a training manual for attaining your goals. The mind will only continue to “manifest” familiar thoughts and beliefs unless we begin suspending disbelief and welcoming our desired reality as a current experience; practicing the having of our desired outcome. In old world popular psychology, this was seen as “acting as if,” which is a significantly powerful technique used in hypnotherapy and counseling alike.

As you are training your anterior midcingulate cortex and your reticular activating system is hard at work, you are restructuring your neural network to serve you in attaining what you want and need. All neurocognition set aside, there are unseen scientific principles at play such as quantum mechanics, energetic shifts and timeline events at play; but that’s for another blogpost. As is often said, there is nothing new under the sun. We get to relearn these ancient mechanism for our benefit and the benefit of our world around
