You Are Hypnotized & There’s Nothing You Can Do About It… Or Is There?

Hypnosis could be described as an altered state of consciousness brought about by an overload of message units. Whether it’s induced by a skilled & trained therapist or through anxiety, grief, a traumatic event, crisis, media, propaganda or entertainment it can impact the thoughts, feelings, behaviors and choices of an individual or people group. When used positively and for good in a therapeutic atmosphere, we are more susceptible to learning, growing, changing our thoughts or beliefs and developing into the person we desire to become. One of the greatest awakenings we can have is the epiphany that we are already in a hypnotic state living out our lives & making a majority of our decisions from a state of previous conditioning. Some have called this a wakeful trance or a chronic heighted state of suggestibility. This state impacts how we start our day, how we end our day, how we eat, sleep, dress, exercise, speak, our good habits, bad habits and even our beliefs. The question some people have is, “How can I use hypnosis to help me get unstuck?”
Simple Exercise in Recognition
Here is a simple exercise you can use to test the level of your conditioning. Consider some behaviors you would like to change. Maybe you want to stop smoking, drink less, eat healthier, exercise more, cut out sugar, go to bed earlier or stop cursing/swearing. Maybe you’d like to react less on the road, think more highly of others and be more respectful/loving towards yourself. Now that you’re clearly circling your thoughts on something you want to change, pay close attention to those thoughts and the feelings that arise when you’re actively, consciously and intentionally trying to change these behaviors. That feeling of discomfort, fear, anxiety or unfamiliarity is the resistance that your subconscious mind is working diligently to promote so homeostasis and status quo remain your norm.
A Tool to Help Break Pattern
Self-hypnosis is an incredible skill that, when applied effectively, can help you break free and enter into new sustained changes that lead you directly into your goals. This is a skill I help train clients in on a regular basis, but I want you to have something like a pre-cursor that you can use immediately after reading this blogpost so you can be prepared for that incredible training. Start breaking patterns. You can even break patterns completely unrelated to the behavior you’re deciding to change, and your subconscious mind will bridge the associated connection. For example, if you want to change your diet and the way you
eat, allow your unconscious mind to guide you in folding up the bag of chips around 10 to 20 seconds prior to when you think you would have consciously started to end your snack. In the words of a late great doctor, “Eat a little bit less, and a little bit less and a little bit less.” If you want to stop smoking eventually, start becoming more mindful of the smoking process and be mindful and intentional while starting to smoke, experiencing the smoke and completing the act. If you want to change the words you use and the way you speak, be super intentional about your choice of words and be insistent about your words; use them with precision in a mindful wakeful state. Remember the meaning, definition and purpose of them.
Hypnosis is Your Friend
Once you remember that your subconscious mind can be your friend, so can hypnosis. We sing little songs to ourselves, quote mean spirited or loving affirmations to ourselves, channel our preconceived notions about the world around us and spill our internal representation all over the realm around us. It’s high time we start training ourselves again. We can remember our sacred humanity, shed our heavy conditioned reliance on the artificial technology and experience life raw, with the loving guidance of Inspired discernment and divinely trained intuition. Start using the amount of information you know about hypnosis to your advantage, seek our support, training, hypnotherapy and keep watching your life unfold into all you’ve wanted it to be.
